This is a growing team dedicated to innovating on behalf of our clients and making technology more human, accessible and purposeful. We work across most devices, surfaces, platforms and verticals from automotive, to IT, retail, XR and digital products and platforms. We design with a technology agnostic mindset, and serve multiple audiences, including consumer, enterprise, developer, and government.

In this role, you will be responsible for the successful selection and application of sometimes new and emerging technology for shaper projects within the Left Field Labs portfolio of existing clients. We aim to uncover and ultimately deploy innovative solutions that are valuable, effective, feasible, and desirable. Working at the cross section of business, technology and user experience, you will guide the innovation process from conception to workstream deployment at Left Field Labs and our partner network. The objective is to not just uncover the right solutions for our clients challenges, but also manage how they are developed in a highly integrated and inclusive fashion. You will need the ability and knowledge to break down complex problems into steps that drive innovation at speed. Last but not least the Technology Director is the voice of feasibility, engineering and software development within the team and must be passionate about the successful application of technology to business challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the innovation process across cross-functional teams tapping into your deep knowledge of technology, development and product architecture
  • Analyze client requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure theyre successfully achieved
  • Develop technical aspects of product, service and experience strategies to ensure alignment with client business goals
  • Discover, test/validate, architect and lead the implementation of new technologies that yield competitive advantages for clients
  • Help internal and external teams use technology, sometimes new and emerging, profitably and efficiently
  • Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Monitor KPIs and budgets to assess technological performance
  • Use stakeholders feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
  • Communicate technology strategy to clients, team members and stakeholders
  • Translate discovery strategy into detailed requirements for prototype development and product, platform or experience development by the wider Left Field Labs team
  • Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments and cross-functional teams
  • Appraise new ideas, solutions or features and strategize appropriate technology architecture and development plans - include the provision of risk mitigation strategies
  • Build strong relationships within the team, partner and client organizations; working closely with production, creative directors, UX and UI designers, creative technologists, developers, project managers, and client partners throughout all stages of the innovation lifecycle
  • Understand and keep a finger on the pulse of software, hardware and technology trends
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization
  • Digest and distill technical information into simple, compelling actionable insights
  • Leading the innovation pitch process working closely with the business development, creative and strategy teams to manage resources during these sprints, keeping an eye on user needs to be met, and how we might exceed the expectations of our clients

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior developer, engineer or similar leadership role in a technology team
  • Knowledge of technological trends, implementation processes and applications to build effective strategies
  • Understanding of budgets and business-planning
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
  • Experience with leading teams in waterfall and agile development environments
  • In-depth knowledge of all stages of code creation and development required to bring a project from concept to ship
  • Passion for building strong engineering teams and cultures
  • Passion for keeping up to date with changing technologies in software development

  • Play an important role in the creation of Product Requirement Documentation (PRD) as well as Technical Design Documents (TDD) - collecting and managing the input from team members to ensure discovery projects lead to successful development workstreams.

Education
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
