About the job

This position is needed to drive strategy and execution of Twilio’s developer experience and growth globally. You will build products and features our customers will love and play a key role in driving adoption. You will understand and build empathy with Twilio’s extensive base of developers, customers and diverse personas as they build, debug and operate their Twilio applications. You will work with cross-functional teams from the product's conception all the way through to its launch. You will be working on API design, user experience, planning and prioritizing sprints, defining the product roadmap and specking out new features and product enhancements.


In this role, you’ll:

  • Be responsible for defining and building Twilio’s Developer Experience, focused on Growth vision and products.
  • Perform primary and secondary user research to understand how to prioritize work and balance growth and revenue.
  • Work closely with a team of engineers, designers and data analysts to deliver world class developer experiences.
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of the software development industry and the evolving needs of our increasingly diverse customer base, feed these requirements back into the platform and product teams to guide our roadmaps.
  • Communicate both the business and technical rationale behind your product decisions.
  • Define and report product metrics - being data driven is key.
  • Engage with our developer community to understand how we can improve our products to increase functionality and unlock new uses. A significant portion of our customers are developers, and we are passionate about building products for them.

  • 6+ years of experience envisioning and building resilient, high-throughput services and products.
  • 2+ years people management experience
  • Proven experience motivating a team to rally behind a long range vision.
  • Ability to work with engineering, architecture, design, product marketing, GTM sales and customer support to help launch new products and support existing ones.
  • Be able to contribute to the management of your products from both a technical and business perspective. The success of our products is in your hands.
  • The ability to ship quality products in a fast-paced environment. We expect you to be able to work and communicate across the organization at all levels. It is particularly important that you have experience working directly with engineers and engineering management.
  • Strong technical background.
  • Is hands on, passionate, and collaborative.
  • Has strong analytical and problem solving skills, and is data driven.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.


  • Experience writing code - for fun, college, or work - is a plus. We are looking for someone with a technical bent to communicate with our internal engineers and engineering management, as well as our engineering-focused customers.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience leading and executing against complex developer challenges.
  • Experience working on, using and knowledge of a variety of developer tools is a plus.
  • Experience executing in a fast moving environment with a heavy dose of ambiguity.


This role will be based in our San Francisco office, or has the option of being remote in the US.

Approximately 5% travel is anticipated.

Colorado applicants:

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is 176,080 - 220,100.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
