Innovation Director

In this role, you will be responsible for the discovery and development cycle for shaper project within the Left Field Labs portfolio of new and existing clients. We aim to uncover and ultimately deploy innovative solutions that are valuable, effective, feasible, and desirable. Working at the cross section of business, technology and user experience, you will guide the innovation process from conception to workstream deployment at Left Field Labs and our partner network. The objective is to not just uncover the right solutions for our clients challenges, but also manage how they are developed in a highly integrated and inclusive fashion. You will need the ability and knowledge to break down complex problems into steps that drive innovation at speed. Last but not least the Innovation Director is the voice of both the client and the users inside the team and must be passionate about meeting all their needs and wants effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the innovation process across cross-functional teams
  • Drive the execution of all innovation lifecycle processes, including research, user insights, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development and launch
  • Serve as the point of view lead within the innovation team as well as an ambassador for effective innovation thinking, culture and processes within Left Field Labs.
  • Analyze consumer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build versus buy perspective
  • Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation
  • Analyze client requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure theyre successfully achieved
  • Create and maintain requirements document that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI throughout the development life cycle as needed
  • Translate discovery strategy into detailed requirements for prototype development and product, platform or experience development by the wider Left Field Labs team
  • Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments and cross-functional teams
  • Appraise new ideas, solutions or features and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans
  • Build strong relationships within the team, partner and client organizations; working closely with production, creative directors, UX and UI designers, creative technologists, developers, project managers, and client partners throughout all stages of the innovation lifecycle
  • Understand and keep a finger on the pulse of business, empathetic design and technology trends and opportunities for inclusion and sustainability into the roadmap
  • Analyze market data to develop sales strategies, and define objectives for effective deployment and/or communications plans
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization
  • Digest and distill information into simple, compelling actionable insights
  • Lead the innovation pitch process working closely with the business development, creative and technology teams to manage resources during these sprints, keeping an eye on user needs to be met, and how we might exceed the expectations of our clients

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years experience as either innovation lead, product manager or creative technologist and in agile workstreams
  • Bachelors degree or other formal training in design and/or engineering
  • Strong experience in a dynamic innovation management role
  • An excellent resume/portfolio with real world results.
  • A leader in strategic & critical thinking with the ability to act effectively with minimal direction.
  • Proven track record of delivering results on time and on budget.
  • Solid understanding of interactive design and usability.
  • Proven ability to deliver ideas for digital experiences spanning Mobile, Tablet, and Desktop form factors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.

Education
Bachelors Degree in design and/or engineering or equivalent work experience
