In Nov 2022, GoDaddy transitioned Media & Search organization within Central Marketing to enable effective and efficient storytelling at GoDaddy. The Media team will drive functional leadership to strengthen GoDaddy’s media and marketing capabilities and inspire, frame and train significant changes for driving efficiency and innovation across markets globally.

The Director of Media Strategy and Communication Planning will report into the Head of Global media and will work to elevate the GoDaddy media thinking and how we drive more innovative and efficient consumer experiences in media.

This opportunity is responsible for the media strategy function across our global markets and partners.

This is a media-first role and the successful candidate will be responsible for creating a framework for media thinking that’s rooted in consumer and channel insights. The Director will need to ensure a strong media strategy, planning, budgeting & KPI framework to apply across our marketing teams as well as our agency partners. This role will involve working with numerous collaborators to garner consumer, category, brand, media, macro-economic insights that can feed into the media communication strategy. You will work closely with the Brand Team, Creative team, Market GM’s / BU heads to better understand the brand, the business challenges and initiate strategic media directives across Paid, Owned, earned ecosystems to capitalize on opportunities across the key global markets.

This role works with business analytics, insights, local market teams & channel teams with the purpose to turn high level strategic plans into productive localized implementation, establish a strong measurement framework and create ways of working that will help market improve the impact of their marketing investments.

Its key that all communication plans are addressing business objectives and have a robust experimentation & measurement agenda associated with them. The role will also provide thought leadership materials on both current issues and future facing changes in the marketing/technology landscape that will be used across all business units up-skill the marketing teams.

What you’ll get to do

  • Accountable for providing Media strategy & media planning framework to the business unit's, distilling local market knowledge and working to establish a critical metric framework and monitoring loop across a number of lead markets across US, UK, Canada, India, Australia, MENA, LATAM.
  • Establishing a strong metric framework in conjunction with Analytics and ensuring weekly/monthly reporting on performance and any media pivots required to bridge the business goals.
  • Working with channel teams, creative teams and insights & automation teams to build compelling brand narratives, content integration and format innovations across all Paid, Earned and Owned touch-points.
  • Partnering both global + local media & marketing teams to evaluate execution plans, ensure high quality review templates & KPI templates are being used for media.
  • Working closely with BA to interrogate channel efficiency metrics and how we can improve our measurements and connect with business KPI’s
  • Extract insights from sophisticated data sets/ digital sources and turn them into committed initiatives that can be used to fuel balanced brand & business growth.
  • Work across various global and local teams, across markets to lead and co-ordinate global projects.
  • Build compelling presentations with a clear strategic narrative and relevant intellectual content
  • Lead multi-stakeholder workshops, setting the agenda, ensuring the relevant people are present, defining roles

Your experiences should include

  • Self-motivated, highly flexible and can work optimally in ambiguous environments
  • 10+ years of validated experience working at a leading media agency /client side, preferably global with expertise in integrated media planning and leading media measurement
  • Fluent in Communications Strategy, with competence and experience across markets like US, Canada, Australia, UK in traditional and digital media environments
  • A good understanding on experimentation and a strong eye for KPI delivery
  • Expert leader with validated impact at C-suite level
  • A commitment to excellence with a positive and resilient demeanor.
  • T-shaped demeanor of balancing left-brain organization and right-brain creativity
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, or business. MBA a plus.
  • Extraordinarily strong communications and presentation skills Ability to turn sophisticated topics into simple concepts
  • Strongly results oriented with consistent track record of success
