Director of Engineering, Partner Experience

This position is to lead a team of talented engineers and engineering managers responsible for building Twilio Segment’s industry-leading partner ecosystem. Segment’s Partner Experience team works with our strategic partners to design and develop advanced integration to our platform. You will also be responsible for building the next generation Developer Center and Partner Marketplace, delivering on key strategic integrations and enabling partner success. You also need to work with other teams across the organization to understand how to accelerate partner integrations into larger company strategy


In this role, you’ll:

  • Collaborate closely with our Partner Marketing and Product Organizations to develop early proof of concepts and recommendations to help our strategic partners build compelling applications
  • Own and drive relationships with external technical audiences at our partner organizations
  • Drive the vision, design and development for next generation self service Developer Center
  • Lead your teams to build new strategic integrations based on industry trends
  • Key influencer to drive vision for Partner Marketplace
  • Collaborate with different teams across the organization including Partner Marketing, Customer Support, Product, Go to Market, Sales, and Solution Engineering to deliver value to customers
  • Become an expert on Segment’s platform and provide technical guidance to the engineering teams from a partner lens
  • Represent Segment at developer community conferences and events
  • Work with Developer Network marketing team to identify partner collaborators for recipes and other marketing collateral
  • Build and retain a high performing team
  • Lead the partner engineering organization to accelerate partner adoption

  • 10+ years of experience as an engineering leader with exposure in a partner-facing role
  • Experience managing engineering teams to build web/mobile applications. Able to understand different architectural patterns and can work with a wide variety of technologies.
  • Excellent communicator who can distill complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to solve critical business problems with a combination of technology and domain expertise
  • Experience leading Developer Platforms to grow partner ecosystem
  • Has background leading teams in a partner facing role(e.g. developer evangelism, partner engineers, solutions architects)
  • Thrives in a cross functional, collaborative environment
  • Experience in Martech/Adtech domains
  • CS, EE or CE degree and/or a demonstrable, solid understanding of CS fundamentals


  • Previous experience with CDP
  • Experience in developing integrations on Twilio and/or Segment Platforms will be a big plus


This role will be remote and open to the USA and Canada.

Approximately 5% travel is anticipated.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is 193,760.00 - 242,200.00.
  • Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
